DSE Assessment – Display Screen Assessments are for home and office based workers to optimise their working comfort, prevent pain and injuries occurring whilst working with computers, laptops and iPads.
Employers have an obligation to adhere to the Health & Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 updated in the Health & Safety (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2002 to provide employees with an assessment if they use a screen based device for more than 1 hour per day.
DSE assessment is an analysis of the environment, equipment being used and the users working habits and postures. Recommendations are made to optimise their working experience with full report and recommendations provided.

Ergonomic Office Consultancy
This service is ideal for when an office space is being designed to ensure the equipment being ordered meets the needs of your employees.
Whether you are moving to a new premises or redesigning a current space it’s vital that your space is designed with the right equipment.
Selecting the correct setup for your working space helps to be cost effective ensuring the right equipment is purchased first time but also helping to prevent employee absence due to musculoskeletal pain caused by incorrect working setup.
Consultancy involves assessment of the working space, discussion of your needs and a report with recommendations for equipment based on your preference and budget.
Workplace Assessment
On site assessment of an employees work tasks to help provide best advice and recommendations if they have been absent from work due to injury or illness, or are struggling to perform their work tasks. Workplace assessment typically takes 2-3 hours and is suitable for non office based employees, especially those in manual work.
The assessment involves discussion with the employee regarding their current health and issues they may be having with work. Following this, an observation and analysis of their work tasks will be performed to help conclude a report to provide to the employer and employee.
The report may contain reasonable adjustments to their working tasks that help to manage their condition and help them remain at work, phased return to work or modified hours of work, equipment recommendations that can assist the employee improving their safety and comfort. Advice and education for both employee and employer to help them both manage the situation effectively moving forward.
Functional Capacity Assessment / Fitness to Work (FCA / FTW)
On site functional assessment of an individuals ability to work when they are struggling to return to work or have been on long term sickness absence.
We perform an interview and a set of specific functional tests related to their job tasks to help determine their ability to return to work/perform their job.
The assessment typically takes 2-3 hours, is performed on site and will involve analysis of their physical ability and a health interview.
Long term health conditions such as major surgeries, long term illness and sickness which result in poor health and reduced overall fitness and function should consider an FCA/FTW when an employee is considering returning to work to help structure best recommendations and guidance for their potential return or to identify any clear reasons they cannot return to work.
Management Referrals / Occupational Health Reporting
If you have an employee who is suffering from a musculoskeletal pain or injury which is affecting their ability to work or ability to perform their work duties, initiating a referral for assessment and guidance is advised. We will provide:
- Relevant medical issues – explained simply and a detailed likely prognosis for the condition
- A decision if the condition is likely/ unlikely to be classified under the Equality Act 2010
- Advising on the functional ability of the employee. If work duties are affected advice we can provide advice on any adjustments, long or short term which may be feasible.
- Return to work plan, if appropriate, with clear timescales
